Free Download: Joker & TC - It Ain't Got A Name // Joker - Psychedelic Runway (Mensah Remix)

One of the biggest tunes of the last year which sprung from a collaboration between Bristolians Joker and TC has, after being rinsed by some of the biggest name DJs around and unfortunately leaked earlier this year, been given away for free by Joker himself via Twitter.

And on a similarly purple vibe, Mensah's breakbeat remix of Joker's 'Psychedelic Runway' has been put out as promo for tonight's event at Fabric in London. Keeping Joker's characteristic climbing synth riffs in place, Mensah adds an extra layer of bassweight and switches up the drums with a scattering of amens.

Free Download: Mensah - Stapleton Road VIP

With his uniquely weighty take on the nostalgic, synth-driven sound that has been emerging from Bristol for the last couple of years, Mensah is most definitely one to keep an eye on. With a small string of well received releases this year, including the huge 'Untitled Future Funk EP' on Bristol scene don, Jakes' label Hench, it is looking as though things are only going to get better for both Mensah and Hench. To keep up to date with the label's movements, and receive a free copy of the VIP of the huge 'Stapleton Road' simply go here and do as you're told.

Badness - Nightmare: Mensah / Cotti & Coki / Bassboy Remixes

A little late arriving, but definitely worth the wait, the tenth vinyl release from No Hats No Hoods is a genre-spanning offering. Badness collaborates with Lil Nasty and grime scene don Skepta for the original title track, the classic stylings of which sets it up as one of the biggest grime releases of the year so far.

What makes it a surprising release, though, is the fact that each of the three remixes accompanying the original tune are actually very good. So often, remixes are simply tacked onto single releases for lack of a decent flipside, but not here...

Fast-rising Bristolian Mensah keeps the vocals intact and backs them with a simple rolling bass and hard-hitting snare:

Cotti and Coki also apply their trademark stamps to the track, as Badness' eery intro vocals are stretched out to full effect, before Coki's current favoured sound drops into the mix:

Finally, Bassboy switches from a half-time dub-reggae intro straight into an old school 4x4 bassline flex:

H.E.N.C.H

Bristol label Hench is to release its first label mixtape next month (the official release date being the 5th of April), which is mixed by Dubstep's king of acceptable wobbles, Jakes. The tape features a wide selection of the label's heaviest beats ('Warface', 'Ironhide', 'Pulse 80's' etc.), as well as loads of unreleased exclusives, including the ever-so-rare 'Drumstick VIP'.

The tape is available for pre-order here, and there's a free download of Jakes' reworking of his classic '3Klane' collaboration with fellow Bristol boy Joker here:
