Free Download: Skream - 100K Freeizm

Like the opposite of a grime MC announcing on every set that their new mixtape is 'out soon', the last two free download releases in Skream's much-loved 'Freeizm' series have been announced as the last and yet more continue to surface. The occasion for this latest offering is the Croydon producer's reaching 100,000 followers on Twitter, and features eleven tracks all made between 2006 and 2009 - arguably one of dubstep's most fruitful periods.

Free Download: Skream - Freeizm History

Skream weighs in this Christmas with yet another huge, and apparently final, giveaway: this time he's collected eleven tracks which all date between 2004 and 2006 (a period many consider to be among the golden years of the garage off-shoots of both dubstep and grime). Coming with a slightly wry warning that 'This will not impress people who found dubstep in the last 3 years', the free zip should provide something of an insight to more recent fans as to the minimal and hugely experimental foundations from which the now-global sound has grown.

Featuring some Stella Session classics, such as 'Potent Cloud' and 'Hurt The Soundboy', this is a must have for everyone: regardless of when they were first introduced to the sound.

Free Download: Skream - Darkin It / Skream - Under The City Lights (feat. Sam Frank)

It's another free release from the most generous man in music, and this time Skream has given away two free tunes which represent both ends of the spectrum of his current output: 'Darkin It' comes on like a harder version of 'Metal Mouth', while 'Under The City Lights' (previously only released in Japan) works as a follow up to album track 'Where You Should Be'.

Free Download: Skream - Gather Round

Following from his announcement of the planned release of one final 'Freeizm' EP, the ever-generous Skream has given away the melodic banger 'Gather Round' for free via Twitter. This follows his pledge to make the collection the largest free release he's put out to date and is set to include around '10/11 tracks'. With the chosen tunes coming out tomorrow, Skream tonight has asked for submissions for artwork.

Free Download: Skream - Raw Dogz

Despite already showing some serious generosity over the past couple of months with his Freeizm EP giveaways, man-of-the-moment Skream promised to hand out a free download of the tear-out banger 'Raw Dogz' if Magnetic Man's recent single release of 'I Need Air' went Top 10. After going in at number six in the mid-weeks, it finally settled at the number ten spot, and Skream followed through with his promise, so here it is.

Free Download: Skream - Freeizm Vol. 2

This is the second installment (cop the first here) of Skream's free download releases in the lead up to his second album, 'Outside The Box'. This collection features the fan favourite, eerie stepper that is 'Dark Light', which uses space in a Loefah-esque way to add density to the skeletal frame of the tune aswell as the deep 'Disturbin' Toyz' which is built around a heavy kick-snare combination. 'Arola' adopts a future-garage beat pattern, occasionally dusted with euphoric synth lines; and 'Sine-Us' follows a similar pattern, but has a more progressive structure and moves with greater urgency. Finally, some old-school flavours in the form of Skream's reworking of Loefah's 'Indian Dub' from 2004: the remix retains all of the original's energy, yet also coming with an almost surgical precision to its arrangement. With one more free release on the way before the album drops, anticipation and expectations are rising.

With his sophomore album 'Outside The Box' due out later this year, as well as an album alongside Benga and Artwork under the Magnetic Man moniker on the horizon, it seems unfair to expect much more of Skream. Yet due to the popularity of the Skreamizm series which followed his debut album from 2006 there is still a rising anticipation for the sixth installment of the run of EPs. With talk, also, of a Skream remixes EP (featuring remixes of his tunes by other artists, such as Silkie's 'Filth' remix) it seems the man causing all the hype has stepped up to the unwritten challenge in releasing the first installment of the punning 'Freeizm' series. The Free-P features a healthy mixture of sounds, with the mellow, spacious 'Minimooool' alongside the tripped-out 'Cut Like A Buffalo' remix, dirty tearout tune 'Pitfall' and old school garage stepper 'Show Me Love' and is definitely worth grabbing before the next two in the series are released in the run up to the highly anticipated album.
